About Impact Global Health Alliance

Mom-A- Thon is a race to save the lives of moms in forgotten communities around the world. For $40, Impact Global Health Alliance can provide access to life-saving medical resources for one mom and her family for a year. From now through the end of the year, we're aiming to raise $575,000. That's the equivalent of thousands served. People like Flori, a young pregnant Maya woman. When Flori arrives at the Casa Materna Rural at 2 am, cold and frightened, a well-trained Auxiliary Obstetric Nurse is there to receive and calm her. She speaks to Flori in her native Mayan language and provides an immediate assessment. The nurse determines that Flori’s blood pressure is elevated, an indication of a dangerous complication called pre-eclampsia that can rapidly cause seizures and death. The nurse quickly arranges for Flori to be transferred to the nearest hospital four hours away. Once she arrives, appropriate treatment is given, and a healthy baby girl is born.
