We could do so much more.
About 15 years ago, I watched Guatemalan nurses save the life of a newborn and her mother during a dangerous breech delivery in the western highlands. Roads had only recently reached the area. Power and water were unreliable. What saved them was a system built by local women and health workers who made sure mothers knew where to go and could get skilled care in time.
That’s the work we do. We focus on women and children who are forgotten— families living far from clinics, facing preventable risks every day.
This year, Impact Global Health Alliance was selected as one of 80 organizations funded through Action for Women’s Health, a $250 million global initiative. More than 4,000 organizations applied, 80 chosen, and this recognition confirms that our model works and can scale.
But the award doesn’t close the gap. Every day, a mother suffers or dies unnecessarily. The solutions are known, tested, and low-cost—training birth attendants, strengthening referral systems, ensuring mothers are reached before complications begin.
That’s why I’m asking you to join my team. Your contribution helps expand these systems to more communities and directly supports women who otherwise would not receive timely care. My goal is ambitious $50k will provide 8 nurse salaries for a year!
We could do so much more—and with your help, we will.
